Sacramento Immigrant Day

By March 28, 2006No Comments

On May 18, KRC mobilized 25 community members to travel to Sacramento for the annual Immigrant Day.Immigrant Day came at the heels of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s release of the May Revise, which reversed the original proposal to eliminate or cap immigrant programs. The community members that KRC mobilized were predominantlyseniors who would have been affected by the governor’s budget cut proposals. The release of the May Revise, allowed the KRC delegation to focus on other important issues such as language access, drivers licenses for undocumented immigrants, and the long-term sustainability to keep the immigrant programs which are lifelines for many immigrant senior citizens.
