Immigrant Groups Address Special Registration

NAKASEC participated in a press briefing that addressed the suspension of the Special Alien Registration program and the National Security Exit and Entry Registration program (NSEERS).Since the start of the Special Registration program, around 80,000 men from Arab, Muslim, African, South Asian, and Asian countries have complied.Of these, 13,000 now face deportation for simple immigration violations.Eunsook Lee, executive director, joined representatives from the South Asian Network, CHIRLA, NILC, APALC, and other immigrant rights organizations to voice opposition of the Special Registration program and to discuss possible impacts the US VISIT program will have on immigrant communities.
