This year in Virginia, the State House of Delegates, State Senate, as well as many local offices such as Board of Supervisors and School Boards, are up for election.

The Republican candidate won the tie-breaker, which gave the Republican party narrow control of VA’s legislature. Because they controlled both chambers of the General Assembly, they were able to block progressive legislation, such as bills that would have strengthened gun control measures and increased minimum wage.
Asian Americans are an important voting bloc whose turnout has skyrocketed in recent elections,, with important issues like reproductive rights, education, common sense gun reform, and voting rights at stake, it is imperative that Asian Americans in Virginia make their voices heard in this election. Your vote is an expression of what’s most important to you.
