On April 10, 2004, KRC held a “Health Day” from 9 am to 5 pm. 150 uninsured Korean Americans, the majority of whom are working parents between the ages of 20 to 50 years, came out to receive services. 80 of them were women. The event was co-sponsored by the Women’s Health Office of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, UCLA Asian Pacific Health Corps, ChunNam University Doctors Alumni, Il Hwa Accupunture and Asian Pacific Health Care Venture. Services included basic primary care check-ups, women’s cervical and breast examination, testing on cholesterol, glucose and HIV, blood pressure readings, dental check-ups, and basic check-ups for all including children. Two doctors(internal medicine and a pediatrician), three nurses, two acupuncturists and two dentists all donated their services for this event.
