NYC Council Hearing – Resolution #42

On April 14th, the New York City Council held a hearing on Resolution # 42, which calls upon the United States Congress to oppose the proposed federal temporary guest worker program.What is more, the resolution supports the passage of a comprehensive immigration reform legislation that includes legalization and fair worker protection for immigrants. YKASEC – Empowering the Korean American Community executive director, Yu Soung Mun testified at the hearing emphasizing the DREAM Act, a pending legislation in Congress which addresses parts of the comprehensive immigration reform needed in our country.He also went to state his disappointment in not including undocumented immigrants socially in this country.Resolution #42 was introduced by 25 council members including, Council member John Liu, Miguel Martinez, and Hiram Monserrate.
