2003 Albany Immigrant Day

By March 28, 2006No Comments

On April 30, NAKASEC and YKASEC mobilized around 30 Korean American senior citizens to meet with New York State Assembly members to express their concerns and interests during the State Advocacy Day at Albany, NY.

Among the issues discussed were increasing quality English Language education services to immigrants and English Language Learner (ELL) students, increasing state funding for citizenship services and immigration-related legal services, ensuring that state and local agencies provide language assistance to non-English speaking New Yorkers, and ensuring confidentiality of private information such as immigration status information for all New York State residents when they access vital state services such as police and fire protection, so that they may readily use these services without fear.
