Luisa Blue, Board Chair (Hayward, CA): Having dedicated over four decades to building the labor movement, Louisa retired from the role of Executive Vice President of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) in August 2020, where she was one of the highest-ranking AAPI union leaders in the nation. During her term, she was responsible for the SEIU Asian Pacific Islanders Civic Engagement and Leadership program, was a member of the Racial Justice Task Force, Chair of the Environmental and Climate Justice Committee, and Chair of the Ethical Culture Committee. A Filipina American, Luisa has been at the forefront of organizing and advocating for worker rights, particularly the most vulnerable including immigrants, people of color and women. She serves on the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders, the Asian Health Services Community Board, as a Trustee on Alameda County Health Systems Board of Trustees, and as Vice President of the AAPI Victory Alliance Board.
Amanda Lowrey, Board Secretary (Honolulu, HI): Amanda works for the Hawaii Department of Health as the State Shellfish Specialist and a sanitarian. She is a state board director of the Hawaii Government Employee Association (AFSCME Local 152) and volunteers for both the Hawaii Academy of Science and Korean Adoptees of Hawaii. Amanda is a Korean American adoptee, born near Kunsan, South Korea. She attended the University of Miami, majoring in biology and German and later earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Northwestern University.
Heesook Kim, Board Treasurer (Bayside, NY): Heesook is a Certified Public Accountant who serves as a Vice President in Societe Generale, a multinational investment bank and financial services company. She is a former President of Young Koreans United of USA and a founding member of NAKASEC Action Fund’s sister 501(c)3 organization, NAKASEC. She completed a Masters in Taxation at St. John’s University.
