NAKASEC joined other members of the Southern California DREAM Team for a rally to support the DREAM Act on the campus grounds of University of California at Los Angeles.NAKASEC Program Associate Jane Chung spoke on the strategic advocacy efforts and outreach needed in the crucial months left in the 108th Congressional Session.The highlight of the event came when the crowd of 100+ strong made phone calls to Senate Majority Leader Frist’s office and chanted “Pass the DREAM Act!”
Following the dynamic rally at UCLA, the Southern California DREAM Team led efforts to conduct a DREAM Act call-in week to President Bush and the Senate Majority Leader.Over 500 calls were generated during the week of June 7th from Southern California.NAKASEC, working with its Los Angeles affiliate the Korean Resource Center (KRC), mobilized 180 community members to call and urge the President and Senate Majority Leader to pass the DREAM Act this congressional year.
