(March 2004)
NAKASEC with affiliates KRC, KRCC, and YKASEC concluded the DREAM Act petition drive with a total of 12,100 collected from Korean American communities in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. (These petitions are part of the national effort to gather 65,000 petitions, which represent the number of undocumented students who graduate from high schools each year.) On April 20, NAKASEC and the affiliates will be part of a jam packed action day including legislative visits, rally, a mock graduation ceremony, and a march to the Department of Education to deliver the petitions to Secretary Rod Paige (on behalf of President Bush). NAKASEC is mobilizing 30 Korean American participants including students to attend this event.
