Safe, Orderly Legal Visas and Enforcement (SOLVE) Act of 2004

On May 4, 2004, NAKASEC and its affiliates, KRC, YKASEC, and KRCC participated in press conferences across the nation in support of the Safe, Orderly, Legal Visas and Enforcement (SOLVE) Act of 2004.This legislation, introduced by Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA) and Representative Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Representative Luis V. Gutierrez (D-IL) addresses key components of comprehensive immigration reform.If passed, the legislation would give earned adjustment for undocumented immigrants, reduce backlogs in family reunification, and provides a path toward legal permanent residency and worker rights for future workers in the US. NAKASEC and KRC worked with local immigrant rights organizations, labor and faith to organize a press conference in Los Angeles, which was held at Pio Pico Public Library.Over 70 people attended press conference with 30 media outlets covering the event.

In New York, YKASEC and other community and labor leaders held a similar press conference was held near City Hall with 15 media outlets present.In Chicago, KRCC joined other leading organizations for the SOLVE Act press conference held at SEIU’s headquarters with 10 media outlets covering the event.
