On April 21, 2026, Virginians will decide whether to temporarily redistrict our state to restore fairness in the upcoming elections and protect our communities. In August 2025 at the direction of the Trump administration, the Texas state legislature redistricted to create five new Republican-leaning districts for the mid-term elections. Other states including Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio followed suit. California also recently redistricted, but instead of the state legislature and the Governor making the decision, they preserved the democratic process by having voters decide. Virginia, a state that deeply values the democratic process, will now do the same.
The current administration is attacking, demonizing and scapegoating immigrants to deflect attention from the issues that matter most to our Asian American community and all working Americans, including good jobs, affordable housing, access to healthcare, lower grocery prices, good schools and much more. As a community that is majority immigrant, Asian Americans are villainized, torn away from their families and deported, with no due process.
By voting YES for redistricting we can protect our community while restoring fairness to the upcoming elections.
After the 2030 Census, we will return to Virginia’s independent redistricting process.
OFFICIAL BALLOT QUESTION:
Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia’s standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census? Yes/No
We say: Vote YES ✅
To put it simply: Should Virginia’s constitution be temporarily updated until 2030, to create new congressional districts that protect fair elections?
