(Octoer 2003)
In preparation for the November primaries, the New York-based Young Korean American Service & Education Center operated a Korean language hotline, provided “How to Vote” workshops for new and senior voters, and partnered with the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund to coordinate the 2003 Asian American Exit Poll. YKASEC also became part of the New York Immigration Coalition’s ambitious new campaign, “Project Involve.” Also new this election was the development of a database of Korean American voters in Queens County, based on data from the New York City Board of Election’s Voter List. YKASEC hopes to utilize this list to mount effective Get Out The Vote activities for the 2004 presidential elections.
