On November 4, 2003, KRCC co-sponsored a public forum, “Critical Times in the Korean Peninsula; Toward Permanent Peace” with the Crossroads Funds. Moderated by Ali Abunimah, the event featured writer and historian Bruce Cumings (University of Chicago), Cheong Wook Sik representing the Korean Civil Network for Peace and Becky Belcore of Young Koreans United of Chicago (YKU). Thought provoking and informative presentations on U.S. foreign policy towards the Korean peninsula and current efforts by Korean Americans to educate and organize towards a peace policy in the region was followed by a lively Q&A session with the audience. More than 90 people attended and donations were also collected for the YKU-United Nations World Food Programme joint campaign to raise funds for North Korea Food Aid.
